Gradually integrate New Taipei City bike system with Taipei City’s
On 10/30/2013 New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu reaffirmed at municipal inquiry about New Taipei City public bike rental system that New Taipei bike system would be gradually integrated with Taipei City’s. The Transportation Department first took trials in Xizhi and Xindian Districts. It was scheduled to set up at least one rental station compatible with Taipei’s bike system, so New Taipei City residents could be able to have rental service compatible with Taipei’s.
During the municipal inquiry at New Taipei City Council, Council members Shen Huifa, Lin Shuishan, Chen Wenzhi, Wang Shuhui, Zhang Honglu, Chen Shirong, Zhang Ruishan and O Jinshi had a united inquiry about the integration of bike rental system, food safety, traffic topic - three loops and three lanes as well as the number of Police Officers.
Regarding about the integration of bike rental system, Chu indicated th
at the transportation system of Greater Taipei areas must be consistent, so the metropolitan areas’ public bike system must also be compatible. It was a priority to set up at least one bike rental station compatible with Taipei’s in Xizhi and Xindian Districts, and it was targeted to accomplish setting up totally 60 stations and 1600 public bicycles.
Regarding about the traffic topic - three loops and three lanes construction, Chu said that the Minsheng-Xizhi route of MRT was being planned thoroughly, and it was scheduled to begin pre-construction by the end of the next year, and gradually the principal parts of the construction would be outsourced. Moreover, Danhai Light Rail would be started to do pre-construction in the near future, and the principal parts of the construction would be started next year.
Regarding about food safety, Chu represented that New Taipei City had already announced related regulations, and the number of food safety auditors and inspection equipment had been increased; also, production traceability system was established. New Taipei City Government was currently cooperating with the Central Government to construct cloud management system – Food Management Cloud for civilians to understand where food ingredients came from and how food was produced.
Finally, Council members very cared about the number of Police Officers. Mayor Chou indicated that New Taipie City’s ratio of the number of Police Officers to that of civilians was the lowest among the five directly controlled cities, and the tasks of the entry-level Police Officers were very strenuous, so he would continuously request to increase the number of Police Officers from National Police Agency in the future to relieve the burdens of the entry-level Police staff, and to enhance the safety protection for New Taipei City civilians.
