New Taipei City Government and Executive Yuan constructs food cloud

During the municipal general interrogation New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu indicated that the Public Health Department and the Legal Affairs Department had already fully deployed, and he appealed dealers not to take any chances; instead, they should actively take down problematic food. The City Government was currently cooperating with the Executive Yuan to construct “Food Safety Management Cloud”- a specialized cloud management system which allowed consumers to understand food traceability information online in the future, so civilians could actually eat safely.

Chu represented that recent food safety problems not only caused citizens to feel anxious, but also seriously damaged Taiwan’s image. New Taipei City Public Health Department and Consumer Ombudsman Officers were strictly implementing food inspection. If incomplete labeling or mislabeling activities were caught, those dealers would surely be penalized heavily, so Chu hoped that dealers could keep alert, and actively take down problematic food.

Eric Chu also said that the City Government was currently cooperatively constructing “Food Safety Management Cloud”- a specialized cloud management system, and it was estimated to accomplish the programming by the end of 2013. The system would be tested in January, 2014. Once the test was completed, the City Government would cooperate with Agriculture and Food Agency, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan and Ministry of health and Welfare to offer citizens to look up sources of food ingredients information in databases, and to also allow inspection and management government units to promptly locate the sources of problems upon the occurrences of food safety issues, so arising problems could be solved and food safety management system could thoroughly put into effect.

When the municipal general interrogation took place, Councilors Cai Jinxian, Li-Weng Yue’er, Yang Chunmei, You Huiting, Jin Zhongyu and Liao Yude all made inquiries about food safety issues.
