Mayor Chu diligently builds Greater Xizhi Business Park

 Xizhi’s reconstruction urban planning was currently being thoroughly reviewed for the third time. During the City Council’s general interrogation, Mayor Eric Chu indicated that Greater Xizhi Business Park was of great importance to the City Government, and Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs also listed the park construction as an important project. His team would actively build roads connecting the park to the outside, and diligently implement various basic developments within the park to foster local economy.

During the City Council’s general interrogation, Chen Mingyi, Bai Peiru, Cai Shujun, Chen Yijun, Jiang Genhuang, Song Mingzong and Zhou Shengkao all made inquiries about topics such as Greater Xizhi Business Park, Universiade Athletes’ Village, stray dog capturing, Wenzaizhen urban planning and elderly care, etc.

Chu pointed out that Greater Xizhi Business Park was the biggest important commercial town in the Northern Taiwan. It had the best geographical location – the center of the Greater Taipei Metropolitan, and it had very convenient traffic networks for commuters to travel in and out of the park.


Chu said that the park contained areas such as Zhangshuwan, Baochangkeng and Shehou that all needed to be renewed and to be adjusted to become industrial parks, not like the pure industrial parks or container districts in the past. The city’s team would continuously strengthen transportation system and public construction within the park. The City Government would actively negotiate with Taipei City Government to accelerate building Huandong flyover conjunction and MRT structuring, etc. Also, the negotiations about power tower relocation, tape water pressure problem, pedestrian sidewalks and pedestrian overpass all would be processed step by step.。

The Commissioner of the Economic Development Department Ye Huiqing indicated that the park was positioned as an advanced manufacturing and marketing place with the focuses on biotechnology, electronics parts and cloud technology. The City Government not only led companies by coaching them, but also actively attracted investments to let companies assemble in the park.

The Commissioner of the Transportation Department Zhao Shaolian also indicated that the city was currently diligently integrating transportation system in the park, including roads connecting to the outside, Highway No.1, Highway No.2, railway system, MRT Xizhi-Minshen route and the improvement of city’s streets. In addition, the department would design bus system and associated express buses to help local commuters in and out of the park quickly.

Regarding about the relocation of trees in the Universiade’s Athletes’ village, Mayor Chu represented that Taipei City Government’s contractors were supposed to move trees only, but they almost cut all of the trees, which was very inappropriate. New Taipei City Government had already ordered them to stop and penalized them for money. He believed that Taipei City Government would manage contractors more strictly in the future.

Regarding about the assistance of the Environmental Protection Department staff in capturing stray dogs, Mayor Chu said that rabies started to spread out in the South in July, and because of the lack of staff in Animal Protection Division, cleaning squad was asked to help. Now rabies seemed to gradually fade away, and the City Government would do evaluations in the end of the year. If rabies outbreaks were ensured to be stable, the capturing duty would be assigned back to the Animal Protection Division.

Regarding about Wenzaizhen rezoning which civilians cared about, Chu indicated that once Urban and Rural Development Department finished its urban planning, the City Government would execute thorough developments, and some space would be designated for social housing and youth housing.

Finally regarding about elderly care, Mayor Chu said that there were currently 6 day care centers in New Taipei City, and it was projected to reach 15 ones by the end of the next year, so elders who needed all day care could be taken care of well. Also, the City Government would use idle space simultaneously to set up senior clubs to offer places for seniors to do leisure activities.
