Luzhou’s Gongsan Park’s construction starts to ultimately improve local living s

 To improve local living standards at Luzhou District, New Taipei City Government planned to construct a multifunctional park – Luzhou District Gongsan Park. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on 12/2/2013, and Mayor Eric Chu hosted the event. He indicated that the City Government offered huge parking space for local residents to alleviate the problem of insufficient parking space as well as offering outstanding leisure space for them. He hoped that the greatest benefits could be brought by adopting the way of multi-objectives land use, so local living standards could be improved.

Mayor Chu said that the construction could start smoothly not only because of the support of councilors, village chiefs and civilians, but also because of the kind donations from Luzhou Yonglian Temple with NT$48,500,000. He promised that the City Government team would accelerate building the park to accomplish the construction earlier.

Public Works Department indicated that Gongsan Park occupied an area of 6,339 meter squares, and the green portion was 85%. The multi-objectives building was 3 floors above the ground and 2 floors underground with a total floor area about 7000 meter squares. The 2 floors underground were parking lots offering 173 parking spaces. The 3 floors above the ground were a civil activity center and reading rooms. The construction was estimated to be finished by the March of 2015, and the total budget was roughly NT$250,000,000.

The Commissioner of Public Works Department Gao Zongzheng indicated that the population density per squared kilometer at Luzhou District was up to 28,000 people, and it was the fourth position in the ranking of Taiwanese regions’ population density. There was a problem of insufficient parking space because when old buildings were built, parking space was not set up with them.

Commissioner Gao also indicated that once the construction was completed, the problems of traffic congestion in the neighborhoods and insufficient parking space could be solved. It could also offer outstanding leisure space for about 30,000 residents in the seven villages and a place for them to meet, exercise and read. Those villages were Xiqian Village, Shude Village, Hengde Village, Minhe Village, Rende Village Lujiang Village and Renfu Village.

Today City Council Chairman Chen Xingjin and councilors Li Kuncheng, Li Qianping, Chen Qineng, Li Yudian, Li-Wen Yue’er, Hu Shurong and Huang Guilan all attended the ceremony to pray for the blessing on the construction.
