Matchmaking entrepreneurial teams with industry and capital
The "New Taipei Innovation Square" held a “New Taipei Innovation Square Industry Matchmaking Event.” Aside from matchmaking entrepreneurial teams with industry and capital, the event had Mayor Chu Liluan, GreTai Securities, 104+ Dream Cradle, NCTU Angel Club, Taipei Angels, Acer, Cloud Computing Association in Taiwan, and others sign on as “New Taipei Innovation Square Industry and Capital Matchmaking Platform Partners.” This partnership is to push for connecting entrepreneurs with industries and capital and to accelerate the integration of multi-domain resources.
Chu said "New Taipei Innovation Square" is the first local government attempt at building a business accelerator. Through "counseling acceleration, business acceleration, globalization acceleration", the city aims to help create career paths for entrepreneurial teams. The mayor hopes that the square can help innovative ideas be fast-tracked to become consumer products, and that startups can be quickly elevated to public traded/offered companies.
Mayor Chu said the city government made use of public space and constructed the “New Taipei Innovation Square” in MRT Banqiao Station. This square and Xindian’s “Dream Marketplace”, which opened its doors last year, form the two pillars of innovation for the young and ambitious. These spaces afford the younger generation of the New Taipei City a place to display their talents.
Economic Development Department indicates that since the opening of the “New Taipei Innovation Square” on November 19th of 2014, 37 teams have registered, totaling 83 registrants; 252 professionals have become partners of the square. The square provides specialized sessions and invites industry speakers to share entrepreneurial experiences. The square also has various tools and facilities to aid prototyping, allowing the teams to realize creative concepts.
Economic Development Department reports that 70 business entities have joined in the matchmaking service provided by the square. 20 angel investor foundations and venture capitals have participated. The demos given by teams and friends of the square to manufacturers and companies have created 300 sessions of business opportunity and capital matchmaking.
R & D teams on display include "Yuansheng Biomedical", which has developed wearable beauty and makeup sensors and is looking to break into the international market; “Huacheng Materials”, which has developed system for mobile services in Smart Communities and has won the favor of New Taipei’s Xinzhuang District; and “Social Enterprise Insights”, who is active in social justice and creating job opportunities for the disabled.
Today’s event was also attended by New Taipei Council members, Li Yudian and Li Qianping
