To promote greater Taipei region’s tourism, New Taipei City Mayor, Chu Liluan, led a team to Singapore for the “National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) Travel Fair.” The mayor visited the Taiwan booth, drawing many visitors to ask for picture and even selfies, with him. Mayor Chu sincerely invited Singaporeans to visit Taiwan; many in the audience indicate they have already been to Taiwan and plan to visit again soon.

Mayor Chu said that recent years, there is an increasing trend of self-guided Singaporeans visiting Taiwan. Many of the visitors enjoyed their greater Taipei region experience. The mayor said that he personally knows Singaporean friends who have been to Jiufen and Pingxin for a short vacation. For this conference, New Taipei City collaborated with Eva Airways and other partners to promote “Explore New Taipei City with Eva Air” discounted travel packages. Eva Airways CEO, Zhang Guowei, wore a airline pilot outfit for the occasion. Mr. Zhang and Mayor Chu gave out to the crowds small snacks, gifts and memorabilias, such as Pingxi tea, pineapple cakes, New Taipei gift bag, Eva Hello Kitty limited edition calendar, and other items.

The “2015 NATAS Travel Fair” began yesterday (3/6) at the Singapore EXPO Hall 8. Almost 80 different travel and tourism groups, from the local region, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and other countries, set up booths in the fair. Today, Mayor Chu attended the fair in person and served as an ambassador for tourism. The mayor brought with him “Shouxinfang Pineapple Cakes,” which was once considered as a standard souvenir item in the Taiwan’s Office of the President. He also brought tea from New Taipei’s Pinglin for Singapore citizens to sample. The booth visitors at the scene were enthusiastic in their interaction and questions. Aside from promoting New Taipei’s Pingxi, Shiujingjiu, Tamsui, Bali, and other attractions, the mayor also introduced Taipei’s Xianing Night Market, Beef Noodle, Minced Pork Rice, and other food offerings. The mayor kindly invited Singapore tourists to visit Taiwan.
