By the next flood season, the construction will be finished on only gap of the levee along Xindian Stream which is under Xiulang Bridge and extended to the creek of Jingmei Stream. The groundbreaking ceremony was taking place this morning. Mayor Chu’s administration efficiency is highly recognized by local residents.
In the groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Chu said that “the construction of this levee area was not achieved 20 years ago is due to the laws and regulations. Therefore, we still have 410 meters long gap is awaiting to be filled. Residents feel frightened every time typhoons, torrential rain come by.”
Mayor Chu also said that “he had commanded the Water Resource Department to build the temporary levee to protect local residents from the invasion of the flood in mid May.”
“The new temporary levee is in a length of 223 meters and costs 58 million, 330 thousand dollars; the construction is set to be finished on April 26th next year. At the time, this stable and strong levee would be able to prevent the flood for the residents of Dapeng village, Zhongxiao village, and Fuxing village in Xindian.” , said Water Resource Department.
Several Law makers in today’s ceremony said that “after 10 some years’ effort, we finally are able to break the ground for the levee, Mayor Chu’s administration efficiency is highly recognized.”
