Dance Restriction in Banqiao Station Could be Lifted
Dance restriction in Banqiao Station could be lifted according to New Taipei City Mayor Erik Chu today at the city administration conference (11/8). He will consult with transportation department and TRA regarding teenagers dancing in public areas. Dance should be permitted if it doesn’t cause inconvenience.
Mayor Chu admires the passion when teens dance around station areas or New Taipei City Plaza.
“Practice is always a good thing, it encourages learning and promotes sporting, teamwork and energy,” said Mayor Chu “However noise and other factors should be considered and restriction should only be lifted when teenage parties act responsibly.”
Banqiao Station is an ideal station for dancing with its friendly environment with the spacious area, lighting and air conditioning. Teenagers had publicly apologized with their immature actions in the past. Mayor Chu acknowledged their need and will consult with departments to remove the restrictions.
Mayor Chu appointed Secretariat and Education Department to provide public practice areas for teens in the future. Areas like school, playgrounds or plazas under city government jurisdiction should be available to teenagers.
The cheerleading accidents had deeply disheartened Mayor Chu. He expressed his sympathy and said safety should always come first.
