Mayor Chu Attended the Zhong-Gang Main Drainage Improvement Festival

Mayor Chu attended Zhong-Gang Main Drainage Improvement Festival held by the New Taipei City Government today (12 / 17). According to Mayor Chu, the improvement of the Zhong-Gong Main Drainage is an important milestone dedicated to enhance flood drainage function, provide water purification function, and create a recreational riverside environment.

 

Mayor Chu at the event thanked several former city mayors, former county mayors and councilors for their support for the past four years, including the use of approximate $2 billion to improve Zhong-Gong Main Drainage. He also invited citizens and international tourists to join the festival.

 

According to Public Construction Commission Minister, Hongyuan Lee, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization is very interested in the improving process of the Zhong-Gong Main Drainage and would like to apply the process to river renovations and beautifications in other cites and counties.

 

Today’s events include a fashion show featuring famous models walking through a water catwalk and music performances by the 2011 Hohaiyan Rock Festival winners.

The festival will last two days from Dec. 17th to 18th. In addition to the alluded events, there will be an international public art exhibition and water games for everyone to participate.
